Mise-en-Scene Photography Assignment

 "Closer than you think" 

With this prompt, it is expected to have different interpretations. However, one in specific stood out to me. My sketch exposes a conversation between two people that are in a relationship. The photo is focused on the phone from the girls perspective as she begins to question where he is and who she is, suspecting that something is up. The guy thinks he can play it off by saying she is a friend, not knowing that she is closer than he thinks. The back of the sketch is shaded because the room is dark, leading to questions for the viewers as it being night time makes it more of a mystery or curiosity. The last text is left as "Read 1:08am" to show that she knows and he is at risk with his relationship.

While staging my image, I made sure to have the pure focus of the photo to be on the phone screen. The photo is taken looking from her perspective as you can see her thumb by the screen. It is dark and night time so i turned my lights off, creating more suspicion for the audience. I found it difficult to have the thumb shown in the screen to show her holding the phone as it was extremely dark. However, creating the conversation was extremely easy as I made a fake number and texted myself, specifically deleting certain texts for the conversation to be the same.
